Sorry, I don't speak one word of german. I do my best. Perhaps I don't post in the good topic, feel free to move my thema...

I'm coming in Österreich in september, Tirol, Salzburger Land and Kärnten.

I'm actually searching somebody who can guide me in abandoned or active mines in this country. I saw there's mines, like Hochfilzen, who could be interesting, but in a country I really don't know, I won't enter a mine without somebody knowing these places. In fact, I feel that's quite normal !

I'm used to go in mines, I do explorations since more than 10 years. Of course, I can guide german or austrian people who would come to Belgium. There's not a lot of well interesting places, but few ones are cool.

Could you say me if you would be interested to meet ? Of course, I can understand if there's no reply. I'm sure I'm not the first one to ask this and that's always difficult to take contact the first time, above all in a forum...

Many thanks !
Vincent

hello,
I can not help you about a personally guided tour - maybe one of the other members could.
But at that time there is the 9th International Workshop on Mining History
Payerbach/Reichenau, Lower Austria (september 13. – 16. 2006).
Maybe you are interested in that too.

You can find more information on http://www.montanhistorik.de/content/vi ... 7/lang,en/

There will be some guided trips and some lectures about local mining themes too.

That time schedule is absolutely not up to date. Some excursions changed, some were cancelled. On 16th Sep I`m guiding a max 10 person group to the high alpine gold mine of Schellgaden (Middle Age -19.century). You can see pics at http://www.untertage.com/cms/content/view/79/2/

I`m not sure if there are still free places. Plz understand that due to security reasons 10 ppl are waaaaay enough.

Many thanks for your answers ! Many times, when you ask this in France, nobody's answering you...

I really understand that 10 persons and more can be a security problem. When we go underground, we try to never bring more than 5 persons. After, that's too much. Sometimes in France, they do parties with 50 to 100 persons, I don't like this.

Herbert, I will contact you tomorrow (just because I go in a mine this afternoon and I will miss time). Manymanymany thanks for your answer ! Your mine is beautiful ; in Belgium, we do not have entrances like this...
It seems you don't need photos, but if you want me to give the ones I could make, of course there's no problems.

Just for fun, I put a photo of a Luxembourg mine you can't see on my website. It gives an idea of the kind of mines we have here.

See you soon :)
